How We Do The Job
Cleaning the Asphalt
The pavement must be cleaned thoroughly for the sealcoat to adhere to the surface. Dirt spots are scraped and vegetation is removed from the cracks. The cracks are then wire brushed and the surface is cleaned with power blowers.
Oil Spots
Fresh oil and gas stains should be chemically primed, otherwise the sealer may not adhere to the asphalt. Severe oil/gas spots may bleed through the primer and cause discoloration.
Filling Cracks
Major Cracks are filled by a using a rubberized compound and/or pliable compound. Hairline cracks become watertight by the sealer itself. Cracks will still be visible and slightly depressed. Heavily cracked areas can't be filled. Cracks & dips will not disappear.
Potholes
These are unsightly and a hazard. Small potholes are filled with cold asphalt, but for larger repairs hot asphalt may be required. Improper drainage and puddles created by low spots may require a new asphalt surface to be installed by a paving contractor. We will be glad to recommend a reputable contractor at your request.
Hand Application
Our technique is the precise handbrush application. We use a 3' to 4' squeegee brush, which allows us to spread the sealer to create neat edges and a proper uniformed look.
